Dr. Jennifer Hurford, DVM, Practice Owner (she/her/hers)

Dr. Jennifer Hurford has been the clinic owner and practitioner at the Foxboro Veterinary Hospital since December of 2019. She earned her Bachelor of Science at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro NS before pursuing her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in beautiful Charlottetown PEI.

Since earning her veterinary degree in 2013 Dr. Jennifer has practiced medicine in both general practice and emergency veterinary clinics. She has a special interest in dermatology, dentistry and nutrition. She is passionate about working as a team with clients in providing high quality medicine to their pets.

Dr. Jennifer has enrolled in the Master of Science Degree Program for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. It is her hope in the coming years to start integrating a more holistic approach to pet care alongside the gold standard care that is currently offered at our hospital.

Dr. Jennifer was raised as a military base brat and has travelled over Canada and the United States during her childhood. Her parents were stationed in Trenton Ontario for her formative years and she is excited about making a home back in this area.

In her spare time Dr. Jennifer likes to train and compete in agility trials with her two Golden Retrievers, Douglas Bartholomew and Joseph Francis, and Border Collie Morgan Freeman. She is currently sharing her home with her three dogs and her geriatric cat Humphrey. You can also find her out at the barn taking care of her horses Delilah and Annie.

Dr. Jennifer is bilingual and happy to provide service in both French and English.

Dr. Amy Thomson, DVM, DAVDC (she/her/hers)

We would like to introduce you to our Veterinary Oral Surgeon and Dentist, Dr. Amy Thomson. After several years working as a general practitioner Dr. Toothy Thomson discovered a passion for dentistry and oral surgery. She successfully completed her residency training in the prestigious program offered at the University of Madison. She earned her Diplomate (specialty) status in the summer of 2021. We are incredibly lucky to be able to offer endodontic treatment (i.e. root canal therapy), complicated oral surgery and all other dental specialty services with the help of Dr. Amy! Dr. Amy likes to support our local community by coming to our clinic and helping out with our biannual neuter clinic.

When Dr. Amy is not working you can find her hanging out with her dog Scout, cat Sam and her goats on the farm. You can also find her training for her next Iron Man competition.

Ashley, RVT (she/her/hers)

Ashley is one of our three Registered Veterinary Technicians. Ashley graduated from St. Lawrence College in 2018 and has since been working full time in general practice and taking shifts at our local emergency and after hours care hospital (where she met and worked with Dr. Jennifer!). Ashley enjoys all aspects of her career and has a special interest in anesthesia, dentistry, and laboratory work.

Ashley is the proud owner of two trouble making and goofy pugs- Charles and Finnegan. In her spare time she and her partner, Tyler, enjoy travelling, hiking and spending time dining out with friends and family.

Amanda, RVT, Hospital Manager (she/her/hers)

Amanda is one of our three Registered Veterinary Technicians. Amanda graduated from the vet tech program from Dalhousie University’s agricultural campus in 2010. She grew up in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia (where she originally met and worked with Dr. Jennifer!). Amanda stepped back from her duties in animals medicine to focus on her young family after her eldest was born (she is now the proud mother of two beautiful and witty children!). Her husband is a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and was recently posted to Trenton. We are so happy to welcome Amanda back into Veterinary medicine.

Amanda is an avid yellow lab lover and currently has a sweet boy named Boomer. In her free time Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, crafting and working with Scentsy! She has all of us hooked here in clinic.

Arrin, RVT (she/her/hers)

Arrin is our senior Registered Veterinary Technician. She graduated from the Vet Tech program from St. Lawrence College in Kingston in 1998. Arrin has worked with small and large animals, in emergency medicine, and has a specific interest in surgery and physical rehabilitation. Arrin is often surrounded by a diverse and interesting family of creatures; at present her pack includes her 15 year-old Yorkie, Rascal, her Dachshund puppy, Jasper, and her two cats, Tiger and Cinder.  Arrin is also an award-winning licensed realtor, applying her innate desire to help others by helping people find their dream home to share with their fur family.

Brogan, VA (she/her/hers)

Brogan is one of our veterinary assistants. She completed her Veterinary Assistant program through Loyalist College in August 2021. She has been working full time in clinic the last two years. Her special interests include feline medicine and behaviour, animal nutrition and building long lasting relationships with clients. Brogan is a self-proclaimed cat-lady and has triplet tuxedo kitties; Winnie, Oscar and Otto. During her free time you can find Brogan rescuing stray and feral cats from the streets of Tweed and Madoc. She works with the communities to help decrease the over population of cats and is looking forward to participating in our bi annual neuter clinics.

Meagan, RVT Student (she/her/hers)

Meagan is our wonderful veterinary technician student. She is currently enrolled in her 2nd year of the Veterinary Technology program at the St. Lawrence College in Kingston Ontario. She has had a life long love of animals. She was raised on a farm with her grandparents, goats, horses and dogs. Meagan joined our team in the summer of 2021 and is developing a keen interest in dermatology, surgical nursing and client care -however- she is keeping an open mind to all possibilities in the veterinary field as she works through the program. Megan currently has a sweet White Swiss Shepherd named Lacey (who never leaves her side) and 4 horses: Troop, Kruse, Vegas and Flirt – whom she works with and shows on the western circuit.

Nikole (she/her/hers)

Nikole is one of our Veterinary Technician students, entering her third year of the Veterinary Technology Program at St. Lawrence College. Nikole is gaining an interest in dentistry and enjoys exploring new areas within veterinary medicine. Nikole enjoys learning and practicing new skills as she is working through the program. At home, Nikole lives with her two dogs- Bella and Ira along with her cat Bea. During her spare time, she keeps busy outdoors all year round where she enjoys riding/showing her horse Mina in the summer months and snowboarding and figure skating during the winter!

Jillian, Reception/Veterinary Assistant (she/her/hers)

Jillian was born into a family of animal enthusiasts and has always sought comfort and found a great sense of pride in caring for a wide variety of animals throughout her life.
Jillian started working in the animal care field back in 2001 as a kennel attendant where she developed a passion for tending to and interacting with dogs and cats. This position led to the pet grooming field where, after several years of bathing and preparing the animals to be groomed, she was given the opportunity to learn how to professionally groom dogs and cats. Jillian soon perfected the art and became a professional dog and cat groomer working in and around the area and even owning and successfully running her own grooming business for several years.
You will see her friendly face behind the reception desk (or through the window) at Foxboro Veterinary Hospital. Jillian hopes to create a lasting relationship with you and your pets to provide the best care and grooming maintenance advice possible.

Goose, Maverick and Bogey

Goose, Maverick and Bogey are the newest members of the Foxboro Veterinary Hospital Family. These wily weasels are always up to some sort of mischief and make our days better by bringing a whole new sense of humour to the clinic. When Goose, Maverick and Bogey are not hard at work with their shenanigans you can find them curled up and napping (approximately 16 hours a day!)
